The Essence of Family Day

The Essence of Family Day

Last Sunday, on January 26, 2020, the Asian College of Technology celebrated ACT Tribal Family Day with the theme "stronger families, stronger Asianista community". An awesome day in which your family members and your friends are all tied to one another. It was a great day and it expressed the importance of having harmonious and united with your family. Bood related or not.

That day was a blast as I had spent the day with the people whom I have had familial feelings as I consider my friends to be my sisters. The family day had a tribal theme in which it links to the ancestors of the Filipinos. Long before the Spaniards colonized the Philippines, Filipinos way of education at that time was surviving and the young Filipino children's teacher was their parents or an elder in their tribe. This creates a bond between a child and a parent and invoked a bond between the two. And as our school decided to make the theme tribal, I thought of our ancestors who had deep strong bonds with their family and how they treasure these bonds. It made me think of the essence of such events. It rekindles and gives time to develop a bond between a child/children with their parents. It also rouses a deeper bond with your friends and classmates and teachers.

The family day helps and gives chance to the children to bond with their parents who have lesser time or always busy with their work, to have quality time with their kids and makes the children feel loved and have the attention of their parents. The family day also helps the parents in realizing that work should not be their number one priority but the happiness of their child instead. And I am so happy that schools celebrate and enthusiastically support this kind of event.

Our family day went smoothly and as exciting as I saw every grade level put their whole in their performances to their very best. All of their performance was amazing and spectacular. The grade 10 won the contest and it was a great ending for the seniors who had four consecutive wins as it will be our very last family day here in Asian College of Technology.
